Appointment process

When a church is “open” (the present pastor will not be re-appointed), the Bishop's Cabinet, made up of the nine District Superintendents and the Bishop, meet to review the church's profile prepared annually by each local church's Staff Parish Relations Committee.  The Cabinet then begins to suggest available pastors who might best address that local church's needs.  After that process is completed, the Cabinet enters into a time of prayerful discernment to determine which pastor they will approach about the appointment.  When ag pastor is open to the appointment, a meeting is scheduled with the local church's Staff Parish Relations Committee to introduce the pastor to the Committee as their next pastor.

Every pastor is appointed for a one year term and so is re-appointed each year, even when continuing in a church. Appointments most often begin on July 1
